Multiple Injured as Turbulence Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane Arriving in Sydney
Multiple passengers and crew were hurt when a Delta Airlines jet traveling from LA to Sydney, Australia experienced rough air on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier informed. Several cabin crew members were injured.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service stated they evaluated five patients, and transported three to a medical facility with relatively minor issues that included pain in the back and migraines. Those affected spanned from their thirties and seventies.
The event represents the newest example of commercial jets experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with experts saying that climate change is a major factor.
On board were 245 people and fifteen staff members on the Airbus A350, the official added, clarifying that the plane landed "safely" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday.
The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they received a call just three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
